Voice Authentication

VOICE BIOMETRIC FOR SECURE AUTHENTICATION

Voice authentication is becoming the foundation of an extensive array of highly secure identification and personal verification solutions. Voice authentication solution provides superior and more convenient authentication than PINs, passwords and security questions to prevent fraud, and deliver identity verification for secure transactions and personal data privacy. It can be used in the government and commercial applications for personal authentication access to provide specific services, remote access to digital resources.

Voice authentication is based on an individual’s unique physical characteristics; in this case the physiology of the person’s vocal tract, along with specific behavioral ways of speaking. The voiceprint (or template) is not a digital recording or an audio file, so it can’t be impersonated by a recording. The voiceprint is a mathematical and digital representation of measurable characteristics of a human voice that uniquely identifies an individual and is used for authentication purposes.

With voice authentication the user has a voice template stored in a database that can be linked with his identification data (e.g. name, address, phone number or personal ID).

When the voice authentication application is used the person is asked to speak a required phrase by the system. The system then authenticates the user identity by analyzing digitalized voice characteristics with the voice template stored in the database and accepts or rejects the input, and then grants or denies access to required services or information resources. In essence, users are making a claim about who they are, and the system is verifying these claims.

Voiceprints can also be encrypted, and until they are mapped to account data, they are meaningless in identifying a person. Voice naturally lends itself to remote authentication scenarios involving a mobile device or a computer. No additional hardware for end-users is required unlike other biometric methods:

  • Works in any language;
  • Verifies a user’s identity within seconds and works regardless of language or accent. This makes it readily available to everyone and has the capacity to make life more secure.

SEITCOR provides a voice biometric solution for secure authetication.
